Early Life and Education
The Honourable Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, widely known as 'Fitz' Bramble, was born on October 27, 1962, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. A distinguished student and athlete, he won the inaugural CARICOM Secondary Schools Quiz Competition in his youth. He later moved to the United States for his tertiary education, attending Old Dominion University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Economics. During his university years, he was a standout athlete, serving as the goalkeeping leader for the Old Dominion Monarchs.
Sports and Early Professional Career
Before his transition into full-time politics and diplomacy, Bramble was a celebrated figure in Vincentian sports. He served as the goalkeeper for the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national football team from 1992 to 2004, representing the nation in the 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup and multiple FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns. Professionally, he began his career as an economist, working as a Senior Projects Officer in the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in Kingstown.
Diplomatic and International Service
Bramble’s diplomatic career is marked by over a decade of high-level service. From 2000 to 2005, he served as the Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Washington, D.C. In 2005, he was appointed as the Country Director of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Suriname, a position he held until 2011.
