British High Commission Launches "Women in Diplomacy" Campaign Inviting Public Dialogue with High Commissioner Rebecca Terzeon

The British High Commission in Lusaka has officially launched an interactive public campaign to celebrate Women in Diplomacy, inviting individuals to actively participate in an open conversation on leadership, gender equality, and international relations. As part of this initiative, the public is being called upon to submit questions directly to Her Excellency Rebecca Terzeon, the British High Commissioner to Zambia, regarding her extensive career path, leadership strategies, and personal experiences navigating the diplomatic field as a woman.

The campaign offers a unique platform for aspiring leaders, students, and citizens to gain insight into the mechanisms of modern foreign policy and governance. Participants can submit their questions in the comments section of the High Commission's official digital media platforms. A selection of these submissions will be chosen at random, and High Commissioner Terzeon will address them directly in a upcoming special video broadcast aimed at inspiring the next generation of female leaders.

High Commissioner Terzeon brings a wealth of specialized expertise to the dialogue, having assumed her role in Zambia in January 2025. Her distinguished career in the UK civil service spans over two decades, including pivotal leadership roles such as Head of the Gender Equality Team for the Department for International Development from 2015 to 2019, Head of the UK's Africa Strategy, and Director of the West Africa Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Her extensive background in structural development and gender-responsive policy design heavily informs this campaign's focus on women's representation in international spaces.

By leveraging the digital space for direct engagement, the British High Commission aims to break down traditional barriers to diplomatic dialogue and foster a more inclusive understanding of global leadership. The initiative underscores the UK's broader commitment to driving gender equality and supporting

female empowerment both within national frameworks and across global institutional networks.
